Tug of War
Mixed media sculpture — 39 cm × 39 cm × 34 cm
Wet‑felted and needle‑felted wool, beads, walnut wood
This piece was a response to the wars in Gaza, Ukraine and Sudan. It reflects the tension between unity and division in humanity.
We share one Earth, yet so often cling stubbornly to our own perspective. In our determination to pull others toward our singular view, we fail to see what they see, or hear what they hear. Across cultures and generations, the refrain persists: “We are right, they are wrong.” This refusal to recognize our shared humanity divides us and gives rise to violence, oppression, tyranny, and war.
